Beta Team

BETA Reader: The term beta reader comes from the Greek alphabet. In Greek, beta is the second letter and alpha is the first. So a beta reader is the second reader, where you as the author are the alpha reader, or first reader.

Purpose: So why have a beta reader? A beta reader is an invaluable resource to have as an author. They will read over a story and assist with things like grammar, spelling, plot, and characterization. Beta readers help the author produce a quality story and prep it for release to the general public.

Authors don't have to take all of the suggestions a beta reader may give them, when all is said and done the story still solely belongs to the author. However, it is always in the author’s best interest to get a beta reader before releasing their story to the rest of the world. If nothing else, they will catch the typos that spell-checkers can’t catch and help with sentences or things that may be difficult to understand.

Our Team: The Kenshin-gumi Staff here on MeijiTales.com have compiled a team of qualified beta readers for Rurouni Kenshin fanfiction authors to use as needed. All team members are qualified for their specialties in beta services and have a sincere desire to help you to the best of their abilities. It is our hope that an easily accessible beta team will benefit the entire fandom.

To submit a story to be beta read by one of our professionals, please first sign up for an account. Accounts take seconds to set up and they are free. We also send no spam, of course. Once you are logged in, click on the link above called "Account Info," from there click on the first link which is called "Add New Story." While adding your story, there will be a drop down where you select your "category" instead of selecting one of the main categories, select "Beta Readers." The drop down will refresh with a new set of sub-categories for you to choose which area you want your beta reader to focus on while beta reading your story. After you fill out the rest of the form to submit the story, your story will be added to the beta readers queue and it will be reviewed by one of our team members. They will email you with their edits and suggestions.

All stories submitted to the beta team will only be viewed by beta team members and will not in any way shape or form ever be released to the public.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL VALIDATED AUTHORS: Since you are validated to skip the queue, this process will not work for you so you need to email ALL beta reading requests directly to Bunny at Bunny@MeijiTales.com.
